Welcome!  I am a Biology/ Advanced Biology teacher at Joplin High School.  Now, what's the difference?  Biology is typically taken when a student is a sophomore and Advanced Biology is an upper level, weighted elective that can be taken after successful completion of regular Biology.  If you click on the links above, you will be able to find short summaries about the classes.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me:  kboyer@joplin.k12.mo.us

Grades are frequently updated-- I strongly encourage parents and students to check grades through the website- Infinite Campus' Parent Portal.  There is a link on our main homepage!
**PLEASE NOTE:  I recommend that you do use the grade portal system so you can check on grades/ missing work/ late work, etc.  In my class, I use three abbreviations that may or may not be used by other teachers.  If you see “aa”, that means the student was absent when the assignment was assigned.  If you see “ad”, that means the student was absent when the assignment was due.  Neither of these situations will result in a penalty as long as the assignment is made up within the allotted time/ turned in upon return to class.  If you see a “m”, this indicates the assignment is missing—in other words, the student did NOT turn it in to me.
